It’s not surprising that organic plant growth stimulants are gaining in popularity amongst professional growers worldwide. They are being applied on golf courses, farms and in nurseries in ever increasing quantities.

Kelp Processing: The Unique Mechanical Cell Shearing Process

Developed in 1980 to improve on existing technologies, this process relies on the on-going supply of freshly harvested Ecklonia maxima kelp. Scuba divers harvest this rapid growing kelp plant off the coast of Southern Africa and supply the processing plant with the fresh, crisp material on a daily basis.  It is then thoroughly washed to remove sand grains, sodium salt and other impurities.  The fresh material is then progressively mechanically reduced in particle size and finally subjected to mechanical cell shearing processes.  Unlike other kelp processes, this concentrated kelp cytoplasm is produced purely mechanically; thereby avoiding negative processing stages which utilizes heat, dehydration, chemical digestion (hydrolyses) and freezing of the raw material which denatures (destroys) the natural “hormones” or biostimulants present in the cell sap of fresh Ecklonia kelp.

Our resulting kelp concentrate product therefore contains all the compounds found in the fresh kelp in a truly natural state.  Due to the presence of significantly higher levels of active, organic plant biostimulants, our product is applied at lesser volumes per surface area than other seaweed extracts ensuring cost-effectiveness.
